Working at The Consultancy Group : "Marketing in Flow"
At The Consultancy Group, I do a job that’s hard to sum up. For someone like me—who thrives on synthesis and categorization—it’s quite the identity challenge! And yet, every day, I feel just how much it reflects who I am.
The scope of our activities offers a vast playground. An open-air experimental lab—with a view of the Rhône. Like the river, this profession is in constant motion. And like water, it is a source of creativity... and powerful emotions.
The agency’s strategy rests on four pillars: Singularity. Excellence. Confidentiality. Integrity.
Here’s a quick overview of what that looks like in practice.
🌟 1. Singularity
We don’t do things like everyone else. In fact, we don’t always do things like we did the day before. In my daily work, there’s no copy-paste. No project resembles the last. No ready-made solutions. And no “ideal” project profile we can replicate. We navigate between tailor-made strategy, branding, networking, and countless other facets depending on the client. We go from shadow to spotlight, from idea to execution, from luxury to institutional, from international sports to local logistics services—all in the same day.
Fitting into boxes? Not for us. Thinking outside them is even recommended. We’re given missions because we look at challenges from a different angle. Singularity also means our work is centered around people—their marketing and communication needs, understanding what clients truly need and how we can deliver.
From a managerial standpoint, the challenge is also real, because here too, tailor-made is key to team success.
🤐 2. Confidentiality
Yes, it’s sometimes frustrating not being able to talk about projects or clients… But in the end, we take these projects on out of conviction, so that they benefit the clients themselves. And ultimately, “make success be the noise.”
In a world obsessed with exposure and overstatement, it’s almost a luxury to work in discretion. We often act behind the scenes. We create pivotal connections, open doors, support major transformations—without saying a word. And what if we told you that some clients don’t even know we’re working for them?
A kind of Swiss discretion. The success of a mission speaks for itself. Clients are grateful, and real change reveals itself over time. And, between us, those who know… know.
🏆 3. Excellence
“Excellence is never an accident. It is the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction, and skillful execution.” —Aristotle
Working here is a bit like cooking without a recipe. We know what result we want: something accurate, elegant, impactful. But the path to get there is always unique.
What I deeply appreciate about The Consultancy Group is this rejection of ease. We could settle for “good enough”—we choose to aim for “outstanding.” We could deliver fast—we prefer to deliver right.
There’s a constant demand—for analysis, creativity, nuance, client relationships—that stimulates me every day. We take the time to understand before acting. We refine. We adjust. And above all, we challenge what we think we know.
Excellence doesn’t come by chance. It’s the result of our work and our desire to give the best—for the client and for ourselves.
🤝 4. Integrity – which is really about humanity
Showing integrity means showing humanity. And here, we fiercely believe that doing things together is the foundation of success. It’s even the motto of the agency “let’s strategize your business together!”
Nothing is done alone here. Not ideas, not projects, not victories. I’ve learned to listen differently. To connect people, skills, visions—to spark powerful and often unexpected synergies.
Here, we do what we say and say what we do. Simple? No. Aligned? Yes.
I’m convinced that the more connected we are on a human level, the more relevant we are professionally.
“You get what you give.” A daily motto. Integrity means continuing to work with a supplier who’s been honest with us, who we’ve built a good relationship with. It means giving more to those who are available to support us.
Team, suppliers, clients. This isn’t just a contact list. It’s a living organism, an ecosystem we nourish daily. And it starts with our own team: a mix of personalities, backgrounds, and sensitivities that deeply enrich the way we work.
Here, integrity means always choosing the long term over the “cheap and quick.” We invest—for the long haul and in people we believe in. But each person has to be honest and say who they are and what matters to them. The rest will fall into place. Not immediately, not always how people expect—but with patience and trust, everything comes together in time.
💡 The Lab
A job with 1,000 facets—for those who never knew “what they wanted to be when they grew up.”
When I was a child, I didn’t know what job I wanted. Sometimes I dreamed of using foreign languages and working in translation, other times in luxury and fashion, sometimes at an NGO, or in public service. I couldn’t choose one strict path—too curious, too eager to try everything.
Today, I believe it’s that early uncertainty that allows me to be comfortable in what I do. Because here, I really can try everything—or almost. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidenceI but I now have one foot in each of the fields I mentioned above!
🌊 Go with the flow, but steer the course
I’ll end with this, because it might be the most symbolic detail: Our office has big windows with a view of the Rhône. Every time I look up from my screen, I see it flowing—powerful and fluid.
Water is creativity. Intuition. Emotion. Personally, I spend a lot of time near it…
In the end, water is a bit like my journey at TCG: A capacity to be in constant motion, while staying on course and flowing within its channel. Water always keeps moving—and always finds a way.
